Rock'n Buono! 4 concert streaming + download link

Buono!'s concert live on Youtube.

Had some problems with my recording program again (I really need a new one...) - the audio was out of sync in various parts, making it virtually impossible to fix.

Here is someone else's recording from the tracker: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3SQVM956 The problem with that recording is it doesn't work in Media Player Classic (or any other Directshow reliant video player like Zoom Player), but mostly works fine in VLC and Windows Media Player.

Here is my recording: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=447V5YHE It plays fine in any player, but the audio is out of sync about 45% of the time. You can download whichever one you want, but both videos have problems.

Or you can watch the concert streaming (it starts at about 10 minutes):

Reminder: Buono!'s live Youtube concert in 6 hours

About 6 hours from now, Buono! staff will stream their concert live on Youtube here:

Assuming all goes well, I'll be recording it, but don't expect it uploaded here until Sunday when I wake up. Buono! saikou!

Saki's last day in S/mileage

It's officially over (in Japan). Ogawa Saki is no longer a member of Hello! Project or S/mileage. She graduated at an Uchouten Love promotional event on the 27th and staff streamed some of it to the fans.

It includes two performances and MCs and is 20 minutes long. It's low quality, but it's all we have of the event (and probably all we'll ever get). Bye Bye Sakichy.

Miu over at Chuu! Sugoi! Idol! is starting a "Smile Campaign" for Saki, similar to what S/mileage had to accomplish for their major debut.

Check it out if you're interested. It's a pretty cool idea.

New Morning Musume PV previews

This week's HPT episode was all Morning Musume and we got a look at two of the PVs.

Both of them are seriously amazing. This is definitely turning out to be a top notch single <3

Analyzing Sakichy's Shocking Graduation Announcement

So it's been nearly a day since we learned about Ogawa Saki's fate.

At the time it was shocking. Even now it's still shocking. Very few people could have imagined that Hello! Project's youngest full-time member (excluding Eggs and the new sub-members) would be leaving - in 3 days no less. It's natural to question it. I definitely did and I like to think of myself as a pretty loyal fan. Thankfully, Takamaruyo swiftly put up translations of the official article/blog post from the S/mileage website, which cleared up a lot of confusion and revealed so much that us fans had no idea about. In this post I'm going to take a look at the official statements and logically analyze it to try and clear up any questions that appeared from yesterday's news.

Read on or not - it's your choice.

Translation of Sakichy's graduation announcement

Some key excerpts:

Following the Uchouten LOVE Live Event on August 27th at Higashi Betsuin Hall in Nagoya, Ogawa Saki will be graduating from S/mileage and Hello! Project.

From Tsunku:

Early in May this year
“Earlier, I have been contemplated and consolidated with staffs, about returning to being a normal middle school student. I feel very strongly about this, please let me quit.”
she has made this request.

Even as a producer, it’s not in the best interest of the group and members to continue to force a member in doubt to endure more group activities, therefore Ogawa’s request has been accepted.
He also says,
It was officially announced at first that this unit’s member might increase or decrease,
it was due this is reason that an urgent S/mileage member audition was held in June this year.

Due to various conditions of the group, herself and other parties involved, as well as terms and conditions on contract, it was not until today that this information and her will can be reported, please accept my apologizes.

From Saki herself,

However, somewhere down in my heart, I felt there was a gap between myself and the S/mileage me. I have talked it over with the staff many times and have been constantly worrying about it, and with everyone working their hardest to move forward and myself still uncertain of things, I decided that it was not in the best interest of S/mileage and I will return to being just a normal girl.

Huge thanks Takamaruyo (formerly Hyakupa) for the very quick translation. Visit their blog to read the full thing.

This makes the news a lot more bearable and answers most of my questions that I originally had, though I'm still wondering what sort of term in a contract calls for a sudden announcement like this.

I'm just bitter that Saki won't get an elaborate graduation ceremony like (almost) all other members who have left on their own volition. She was a great Hello! Project member, an underrated singer and overall talent and she will be hard to replace. Good luck S/mileage second gen.

And, if Tsunku's statement is to be believed, then the auditions were as a reaction to Saki's impending graduation and not the other way around. Interesting.

Ogawa Saki is graduating

from both S/mileage and Hello! Project this Saturday. The official S/mileage twitter confirms it (as does the official S/mileage website).

Bekimasu CD GET

When I heard that the new Berryz/C-ute/Manoeri/S/mileage song would get a CD release, I knew I had to have it. Whether it's Aichan's Yume Kara Samete, C-ute's Akuma de Kyuuto, or Manoeri's indies singles, there's something about special releases, that makes them irresistible to me.

H!P on 24H TV download link

Most of the Hello! Project members made appearances on the 24 Hour TV show (as the name implies, it's a 24 hour show that happens every year to raise money for charity).

Morning Musume and Dream Morning Musume did a short medley:

And S/mileage, Kikka, and bump.y performed a medley of Candies (FYI, C-ute's Shouchuu single is a cover of the Candies original) songs:

bump.y's Matsuri-chan is so short its cute lol. and i completely approve of the Horikita Maki close up shots in the beginning <3 <3

Up Up Girls (formally known as Up-Front Girls) also made an appearance but I haven't found a video of their performance yet. I'll edit this post if/when I do.

The top 11 best idol dance groups, according to Japan

Goo Ranking asked Japanese idol fans to rate the current idol groups based on their dancing abilites and the results may surprise you:

1. KARA
2. SNSD
3. Perfume
4. AKB48
5. Morning Musume
6. Momoiro Clover Z
7. C-ute
8. Berryz Koubou
9. Idoling!!!
10. Passpo
11. Vanilla Beans

I can't really comment on the non-H!P idol groups because I don't pay nearly as much attention to them, but it's a pretty decent ranking from what I can tell.

I would just shuffle around the H!P ranking a bit. I wouldn't rate the current Morning Musume lineup as H!P's best overall dancing group - that award goes to C-ute, which is a bit weird because I'd say that H!P's top two dancers aren't even in C-ute (I would rank Aichan and Captain a little higher than Maimi). But, C-ute's weakest dancers are much better than Morning Musume and Berryz's weakest, giving C-ute a very good balance and thus they are my pick for H!P's best dance group. I'd put C-ute at 5, drop Morning Musume to 8 and put Berryz at 7.

One fan's amazing day

Chobineko. Heard of her? If not, shame on you; she's only like the biggest Airi fan ever. Whether it's writing poetic comments on the H!O picboard or fangirling in a vlog, her loyalty is obvious. Which is why I'm so, so happy that something amazing happened to her. You see, Aichan visited her in her house yesterday (no, really).

You can read all about it on her blog.

It couldn't have happened to a more awesome fan. Congrats Chobi! You deserve it!

Thoughts on S/mileage's audition results

Like always, I wanted to wait a day (or at least get a good night's rest) before I make a long essay post like this entry will inevitably become. That way I can let whatever has happened sink in and not make rash spur-of-the-moment posts.

Anyway, by now it's already "old news" that Katsuta Rina, Takeuchi Akari, Kosuga Fuyuka, Tamura Meimi, and Nakanishi Kana are S/mileage's new sub-members.

S/mileage's Uchouten Love first week sales

The official numbers are out. They sold 29,328 copies, which is by far their highest selling first week (Shortcut was the next closest, which sold a little over 20,000).

They didn't quite beat Morning Musume's Only you first week sales (32,869), however their accomplishment is nothing to be ashamed of. By tomorrow, Uchouten Love will officially be S/mileage's highest selling single of all time and that's quite impressive. Good job S/mileage!

Airii~n deshou?! turns 1!

Today marks the day when I posted my first entry in Airii~n deshou?! That means today is this blog's birthday, yay!

I was planning on rolling out a completely new blog design but it wouldn't have been ready in time, so I decided against it. Speaking of blog designs, anyone remember the old AD?! design? It was pretty ugly. I don't have a picture of it (thankfully), but here is a picture of AD?! version two:

This blog has grown so, so much in such a short time. In September 2010, AD?! had a total of 306 page views. July 2011 alone had over 110,000 views. It's all thanks to you guys! Minna saikou <3

HelloPro! Time Episode 15 download link

Today's episode features a lot of different things including Airi goodness,

a dog licking Captain (YES),

Uchouten Love debuts at #4, has record first day sales

Surprise, surprise. S/mileage's new single debuted at #4 on the Oricon single charts (they are #5 today), but that's not the most impressive accomplishment.

Uchouten Love's first day sales are 13,504, which is not only higher than any of S/mileage's previous first day sales (it's nearly triple Koi ni Booing Buu!'s first day sales), but it is also higher than Morning Musume's Only you first day sales (13,209). That's absolutely amazing.

Their exact second day sales are unknown at the moment, but they probably have already outsold Koi ni Booing Buu!'s total sales. And this has been accomplished knowing the best part of their promotion (Happy Music, Music Japan, and FNS Uta no Matsuri 2011 appearances) hasn't even happened yet.

Then it gets even better. Right now, S/mileage has the chance to do something that hasn't been done in nearly four years - they can surpass the first week sales (and maybe it's overall sales) of Morning Musume's current single. The last time that happened was in 2007 when Berikyuu were in their prime, sales wise. Buono!'s Honto no Jibun (29,715) and Berryz's Tsukiatteru no ni Kataomoi (28,307) both were higher than Morning Musume's Mikan's first week sales (28,082).

S/mileage has a golden opportunity to make Hello! Project history and I really hope that they can accomplish it. It's good for business all around. And the last time Morning Musume was outsold by one (in this case, two) of their kouhai groups, they answered with one of their highest selling singles in a while (Resonant Blue with 57,964 total copies sold). With Aichan's last single coming up, I have a strong feeling that history will once again repeat itself.

You don't have to leave this in the hand of fate; if you want S/mileage to keep up the success, you can buy this single!

New Berryz, C-ute, S/mileage, Manoeri song

It's called Makeruna Wassoi! and it's being released in CD form for purchase during the H!P Summer Concerts this weekend.

It's only 800yen so I hopefully can score one on Yahoo! Japan Auctions from a random wota. I have a thing for collecting these special CD releases (Chisato's Romantic Ukare Mode, Aichan's Yume Kara Samete, C-ute's Rakuten Eagles cheer song, etc) so this would fit right in with my collection.

Thanks to Hello!SayuNii for the info.

PS, here is a concert rip of the song if you haven't heard it yet:

Morning Musume 2011 Spring Concert download link

9th gen's first concert tour!

Got around to watching it last night and I thought it was a great first concert for 9th gen. I wasn't too fond of the setlist mostly because I didn't like their 11th album.

The winner for best individual performer definitely goes to Aichan. She seemed to be on a completely different level from anyone else on stage. It's like the blonde hair transformed her into this beast of a performer. Her performance reminded me that she only has two months left. *sad*
