Airii~n Deshou?! Monthly Wrap Up (November 2011 Edition)

Another month has come and gone and now there's just one month left in 2011! I swear as I get other, the years fly by faster

It was a given that November was going to be a much slower news month than October was, with last month's shocking Yuukarin graduation announcement. But slow(er) does not equal bad, as Mobekimasu's first group single released, had more promotion than anyone could keep up with, and is on pace to become H!P's top selling single of the year.

In my sixth contest, I opened it up to writers of all types. Entrants were allowed to submit any work they composed themselves, whether it was a poem, a fanfic, an essay, or something entirely different with hopes of winning a copy of Aichan's graduation single. After everything was said and done, Aya-chii and Chobineko earned first and second place due to their entertaining fanfics.

[ADDP] Donating towards Rock'n Buono! 4: poll results so far

If you voted for Rock'n Buono! 4 and haven't told me how much you'd donate (that's 15 of you!), let me know now (email me at airiindeshou@gmail.com) because there isn't much time left.

(Note: I will occasionally refer to the Airiindeshou DVD Donation Project as ADDP because the name is so long.)

So it's been a day and there have been 113 total votes already! If you voted for more than one DVD, each counts as a separate vote, but that's still a lot so thank you guys!

The real reason why I'm making this post is because of Buono!'s Rock'n 4 concert. It's a little over a week away from release (9 days to be exact), so I need to decide on that one quickly. The latest I should order it is Friday December 2nd to ensure that it arrives on its release date.

Airiindeshou DVD Donation Project poll #1

I just noticed that Buono!'s Rock'n4 Buono! concert releases December 7th (the Blu-ray version too), so I'd better get this underway now. Read on if you plan on donating. Otherwise, just ignore this and wait for my next upload~

Airiindeshou DVD Donation Project [11/28 UPDATE]

Okay, so a lot more people positively responded to this idea than I expected so here are the details to my donation project in Q&A format. The last few questions are very important (especially the very last one about exactly how to donate) so please read them!

Note: Airiindeshou is and always will be free. I will still continue uploading things as normal. This is just for those that want to see more.

(thanks to Raffi for the banner)

What is this?

Hello! Project DVDs are taking longer and longer to appear on the internet (and sometimes they don't appear at all). As a result, I often buy new releases (like concerts) with my own money so that I and everyone else can watch them in a timely manner. But, this practice is getting expensive - each DVD is about $45 plus shipping. Blu-ray DVDs are even more (anywhere from $60 to $100). This is a project that I've come up with in hopes that the foreign H!P fan community will come together so that we all can benefit.

What are the benefits to donating?

1. You and the rest of the world will get to see a new DVD release on or around it's release date (usually it will be on the exact release date, but sometimes there are shipping delays).

2. I will mention your name and your blog (or twitter account or any similar personal website) in the download link post if you want. Everyone will know of your kindness and you'll probably see a spike in views to your website as well.

3. A chance to win the DVD (more details below).

4. You are supporting H!P because an actual copy is being bought.

You said something about winning DVDs?

Frequent readers of this blog know that I've successfully ran 7 contests in Airiindeshou's history. The prizes have ranged from photos to posters to CDs, but never DVDs. This is your first chance to win something as expensive as that!

Any donation of at least $5 or ¥400 or €4 will automatically enter you into these DVD raffle contests. As in all of my contests, shipping will be free to anywhere in the world. The winner will be selected at random from everyone who donated (more info on that below). The more money you donate, the better chance you have at winning.

NOTE: I will only run contests if at least half of the DVD was paid for by donators. It would be unfair to me to give away an expensive DVD if only $3 out of $45 was paid for by donators, for example.

How exactly will you pick the contest winners?

For every $5 you donate, I will write your name down on a piece of paper. For example, if you donate $30, you will get your name written down 6 times.

I will then pick one name out of a hat at random and that person is the winner.

How much do I have to donate?

Any amount! It doesn't matter if it's $10, $1, or $4.26. Anything you want to give is fine (though, again, only donations of $5 or more will enter you into the DVD contest). Every little bit helps!

What currencies do you accept?

I only accept Japanese Yen (preferred), US Dollars, or Euros. If you use a different currency in your home country, Paypal will automatically do a currency conversion when you donate.

I don't have any money to give, but I still want to help! What can I do?

Advertise this post! Tweet it, blog about it, tell your friends, whatever. Spread the word around (just don't spam). The more people that donate, the easier this process will be.

I have money but no credit card/bank account. Can I still donate?

If you live in the US, yes! A donator has brought to my attention something called MoneyPak. Basically it's like a prepaid card you can buy at places like Walmart and CVS using cash. Unfortunately these are only available in the US so for other countries you still need a credit card or bank account.

What if I only want certain DVDs? Do I have to donate every time?

Nope! For example, if you only care about watching C-ute concerts, then you can just donate towards those.

How will you know what DVDs to buy?

You guys are the ones who will make this work, so you will decide!

Every time a new concert DVD is about a month from releasing, I'll make a post about it, telling people to send their donations if they are interested. If we have enough to buy the concert, then I will contact everyone and I will purchase the DVD from CDJapan.

What if I don't care what DVD you buy?

If you don't care about specific DVDs or you just want to support this project in general, you are welcome to send money at any time using the method described in the last question.

How much do you need in order to buy a DVD?

This depends on the release, but normal concert DVDs are usually 3800yen (about $45). Then, I have to pay shipping.

Basically:
- 5500 yen total for the DVD plus super fast shipping (arrives on the release date)
- 5000 yen total for the DVD plus pretty fast shipping (might arrive the release date, probably 2 days after)
- 4300 yen total for the DVD plus slow shipping (takes at least 2 weeks, probably 4-5 weeks)

In each post, I will highlight exactly how much money we need for that particular DVD release.

So what you're saying is that if we don't raise enough money then you won't buy it?

Not necessarily. Yes, I can't buy everything alone, but I can contribute some money, too. I can probably match whatever you guys raise (keyword being "probably"), so if you guys can raise half then there is still a chance for the purchase to be made.

Sounds good. So, how do I actually donate?

For the US and Canada ONLY:

It's a little complicated. Normally you would just click a donation button and be done, but Paypal charges a fee to do that (yes even for donations. Google Checkout does the same thing). So, here's a better way.

1. Go to Paypal and log-in (or make an account if you don't have one - it's free).

2. Once logged in, click the send money button at the top.

3. Enter my email (airiindeshou@gmail.com), the amount (I would prefer JPY but you can pay using USD if you want), and make sure to select "I'm sending money to family or friends".

As you can see, it's free if you use a bank transfer or if you already have money in your Paypal account and use that. If you use a credit card, you must pay a small fee, sorry.

4. The next page will look like this. Click "Send Money" and you're done!

For other countries:

If you live outside of the US and Canada, I've been told that you will have to pay a fee no matter what. In order to limit the fee, I would suggest NOT using a credit card and to use a bank transfer if you can. If you send money that way (or use money already in your Paypal account if you have it), the fees will be very small (usually under 1%).

If you only have a credit card and not a bank account then Paypal will charge you a higher fee (3.9%) no matter what. In this situation you have two options.

You can either pay the fee yourself (for example if you want to donate 10 euros, you'd have to pay Paypal 10 euros plus about 0.55 euros in fees for a total of 10.55 euros). If this is what you want, use the same method as the US and Canada above.

Or you can have Paypal subtract the fees from your donation. For example, if you want to donate 10 euros, Paypal will take out about 0.55 euros from that and I'd receive about 9.45 euros. To do this, select "I'm paying for goods or services" in step 3 of the US/Canada method above.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Thinking about donations

So first let me say that Airiindeshou is and will always be free and will never have a bunch of ads like some websites do (the only one that I have is the CDJapan banner at the bottom of each page, which doesn't bother anyone).

I've been toying with the idea of accepting donations for a while now but I've mostly been against it so I'm asking what you guys think.

Of course, I don't own/buy every single thing that I upload, but most of the concerts and DVDs I have actually bought myself.

Years ago this wasn't necessary because ISOs would always appear somewhere on the net (often times days before its actual release date). But times have changed and even some of the more popular DVDs take weeks to show up on the net (if at all). As the days pass by, buying the merchandise is becoming more and more of a necessity. I certainly have no problem buying and supporting the girls of course. I just don't have the funds to buy $45 DVDs constantly.

Which is why I've been thinking about adding a donation button to this blog. 100% of the donations would go toward the purchase of concert DVDs (or the like). I would then be able to order them and have an encode up the same day as its Japanese release date most of the time.

I could also run a contest just for the donators. Since I wouldn't need the DVD anymore after I make an encode from it, everyone who donated would be able to win the concert DVD like a raffle. And in the event that I have any left over donations, it would simply go towards the next purchase - I would never keep any of it for myself.

Would anyone be interested in participating in something like this? I'm not really expecting this to work, but after a commenter brought the idea of donations to my attention, I thought I'd at least put it out there.

Watch Mobekimasu live at Yomiuri Land in about 5 hours!

Mobekimasu will be having a release event later today at 12:50 (noon) Japan time and it will be streamed live on Niconico here:

That's at 10:50 PM (basically less than 5 hours from now) for the US east coast. Go to this website to find out what time it will be in your country.

And just incase you still don't have a Niconico account, you can make one for free! The website is in Japanese, but I made a sign up guide a while ago that you can read here.

Don't count on me recording it because I've had troubles with my recording program as of late, but I'll certainly try! And if not, a wota usually records it.

Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku gets weekly #4, sells pretty well

Mobekimasu's first ever group single earned a weekly #4 and sold 49,429 copies. And the best part is that the promotion isn't even over yet (like the live Niconico stream of their event at Yomiuri land which will be streamed in about 11 hours from now).

Anyone wanna buy the H!P summer concert DVDs? (BOTH SOLD)

I usually sell my DVDs after watching (unless I really, really love them) so if anyone wants to buy them let me know via a comment or emailing me at airiindeshou@gmail.com

Of course, they are opened, but they are in perfect condition otherwise. I paid 3800yen (about $48) for each, but I'll take $27 each or $50 for both of them. If someone buys both, I'll pay for shipping. If you buy one then shipping is $3 to the US and ask for other countries. I'm open to other offers, as well.

I'm giving you guys first crack at it (and at almost a 50% discount) so let me know if you're interested! I have my eye on buying the Cutie Circuit that releases later this month, so by buying these you would be ensuring the world sees that concert on the day it releases~

EDIT: Both have been sold, thanks!

Contest #6: Ayachii's second fanfic

This is Ayachii's second fanfic and the last of the three winning fanfics by Ayachii and Chobi. The ending is truly brilliant.

---

What the hell…

Come’on, this is great!

You know that’s not…

Geez! Being a freak at this moment?!

Ok, Ok! Lemme---

Hey, not that much!

I thought you want me to---!

Sayumi is pissed. Whoever is trying to do a mischief during her nice, hot spring bath is not doing a good job to at least keep it a secret to their selves. Grabbing a bucket of  water, she marched out of the bath (not forgetting to wrap herself a towel of course).

Indeed, there were guys arguing in whispers (which is such a failure to be called a whisper) with each other for that one little whole on her bath’s wall.

Contest #6: Chobineko's Ai believe in Love

Here is Chobi's second place winning entry.

Ai believe in Love

I've always been a loner. I've never loved anyone, neither my family nor my neighbors. I don't understand the concept of love and I don't feel the need. I love solitude.

However, I was struck by several happy events in my life, and the one I'm going to talk about is one of them. A woman, we shouldn't name her for the moment. I want your mind to be touched by her incredible beauty as neutral as was mine. Consider the woman as unknown.

My story begins on September 30, in Japan. Disorientation from the country you're living in, I have no doubt about it, and that's what makes the charm of this meeting.

Fascinated by Japanese culture since my childhood, I, after a long and hard time, managed to pay me a trip to the country that attracted me so much... I arrived on September 15, to leave the 30th. Normally. Because it happened to me something that wasn't actually planned.

On September 30 so, I was walking quietly in Tokyo. A sumptuous city, incredible to see at least once in your life with your own eyes. I didn't know where I was going, I was alone in the middle of Japan, wondering myself if I was out of place with my typical Western physical appearence.

After having admired far and wide that city, provided with a million things, night fell and I had to go. Reluctantly, of course, Tokyo is a marvel when it's illuminated... But my shinkansen was arriving soon, so I had to hurry, though I didn't really want, especially today which was my last real day here. I like Japan. But, unfortunately, I won't have the chance to live there fully one day. We can still dream, and that is what had happened to me, a dream. Or rather a laugh. A huge laugh from behind me. A laugh so melodious that I lost my words. A hearty and clear laugh, that fill your heart with happiness and makes you feel so good that you're wondering if this is real.

Curiosity was ahead of me, so I turned. A girl. A girl with a particularly attractive charm. The first thing I saw was her smile, more precious than the most brilliant and gorgeous jewelry. She was wearing sunglasses, I wondered why. As soon as she saw me, she hastened to turn to another girl - I can only assume it was one of her friends - with some embarrassment, as if she was afraid that her laughter could bore me. I didn't know why, or the consequences it would have, but I decided to follow the girl. I rode the shinkansen she seemed to be waiting. Doesn't matter where, I would go.

Contest #6: Ayachii's Melancholy of the Night

Both winners (Ayachii and Chobi) were fine with me posting their fanfics, so here they are. There isn't really an easy way to post three long fanfics in one post, so I separated them into three posts.

First place went to Ayachii, who sent in two fanfics. My favorite is first: her vampire fic featuring Aichan, Airi, and a surprise guest at the end.

Melancholy of the Night

Heavens cried heavily that night. Its countless tears racing to touch the earth, letting the coldness of sorrow be felt and known across the land. Yet the murmurs of every droplet clasping down never made it through the room, only to be seen without recognition by someone who never needed warmth as it sat in dark emptiness.

Takahashi Ai watched the window be drenched on the scourging rain. Night is dark, darker than it should be with thickly clouded full moon. Yet she’s not afraid, she felt no concern. Silently she sat still in her own chamber, barely distinguished with the blackness comfortably settling with her.

She can feel her coming. Her scent is unmistakable. A scent that haunts her every single night, not failing to stain her sense with impatience… of wanting it to just vanish as soon as possible. But she know better of herself, to tame the animalistic instinct roaring within her. She had often conversed with this human, and had successfully avoided to cause any phenomenon every time. Night will pass by, and so this being, like its daily routine of passing by her chamber’s door. Tonight was fated to be different though.

The door cracked slightly open, and a lamp peeked behind it walked in, poorly illuminating a girl that held it. Takahashi can clearly tell that she’s wearing her usual skimpy maid outfit which often exposes those creamy thighs to her.

After 2011 ends, Goto Maki will be putting her music career on hold and will be taking a well deserved rest from the entertainment business, but I would love it if in late 2012 or early 2013 she'd rejoin UFA.

As a side note, her last album before hiatus called Aikotoba (VOICE) went on sale Wednesday and I must say that it is the definition of awesome. Every single song on it is amazing. Before, I had zero plans to get it, but after hearing it, I now have my eye on the CD + DVD version.

Contest #6 - Show me your writing skills!

I really wanted to do this contest a lot earlier but I didn't have the money to ship anything out until now and I didn't want to keep the winners waiting this long for their prize. So, here's Airii~n deshou?!'s 6th contest.

The prize is this:

One of Aichan's version of her last single, brand new/unopened. As I have more than one copy, there can and probably will be multiple winners in this contest.

To win all you have to do is write me something - anything. It can be a fanfic (I love fanfics, hinthint), an essay, a story, a poem, anything. There is only one rule:

1. It must involve Aichan in some way. It doesn't have to be about Morning Musume and it's fine if it has non-Morning Musume characters, but Aichan has to have a big part in the story or essay or whatever.

Entries are due by 11:59 AM EST Friday November 11th. You have a little extra time to send in your entries this time, so don't be late!

Please email your entries to airiindeshou@gmail.com and have the subject say "Contest #6 entry" to avoid it going to the spam folder.

Reina, Captain, Yurina, Mai, and Nakanishi Kana on a local TV show.

It's been a while since I've seen a video with a 4:3 square ratio, but this seems like a small local show so that explains it. The good thing is that, for the whole program (or at least most of it), the Mobekimasu members are present. 42 minutes of Mobekimasu on TV? Do want.
