How to watch the 9th Gen Audtions live

Tomorrow, December the 17th, part one of the Bijou Gaku Morning Musume 9th Generation Auditions Special will be broadcasted on Japanese television.

For those not living in Japan, fear not. You actually can watch it live along with all of the wota when it airs 1 AM Japan time (11 AM on Thursday the 16th for the U.S. East Coast; i.e. in 9 hours from now).

This is possible because there are a couple of programs (and an endless amount of shady websites) that allow you to view TV from around the world. For Japan, the program of choice is KeyholeTV. I've used KeyholeTV quite a few times over the years, but this is really what it was made for.

You can download here: http://www.v2p.jp/video/Viewer/Windows/

Click on SetupKHTV3.13.exe, download, and install as normal.

It should look like this.

You want to scroll down until you see テレビ東京. Once you find it, if you click on it, it will say TV Tokyo in English next to it, so you'll know you have the right station.

To start watching, click on the big green WATCH button or just double click on the TV Tokyo station.

A small video screen will appear, showing whatever is currently on TV Tokyo.

For example, right now they are talking about stocks or something, ew
You can make the video bigger if you want to, by putting your mouse on the corner of KeyholeTV and dragging to your preferred size, but it won't make the video clearer or anything.

And that's it really. If you have nothing better to do tomorrow then just watch some of the other stations on KeyholeTV while you wait for Bijou Gaku to start. At the very least, you will be amused by Japan's world famous insanely weird commercials.

I will try my best to record it, or at least take screenshots, but no promises. It will inevitably make its way onto the tracker in a day or so anyway.

EDIT: Well that was a disappointment. The segment was at most 10 minutes long and about 7 minutes of that was spent talking about the graduations. We got to see about 3 minutes of audition footage and nothing of real substance. I recorded it (with sound fail), but it's not even worth keeping. I'll take screenshots when a wota posts a high quality source video later. I think next week's episode is mostly about the auditions so we'll get to see the winner(s) then. We all know who I want.

  1. Free Japan TV channel? Count me in.....Oh damn it's not like NHK world where they subbed stuff or dubbed stuff( In horrible english). So that means I can't watch random Dorama without knowing what the hell they're saying.....
