Berryz Koubou - cha cha SING MV

On the official Berryz Koubou channel is the full MV of cha cha SING!

So I've only heard this song twice (I often do that with songs I think I'll enjoy, to not get tired of them before the single ever releases) and so watching this MV for the first time has convinced me that this single is awesome.

You can definitely tell that it's a cover (or at least that it's not originally a J-pop song), but that's not a bad thing. This song is popular in its original form for a reason - it's super catchy. And that same feeling transitioned well into this Berryz cover.

The dance is absolutely appropriate for this song, so I have no complaints about it.

Everyone looks beyond pretty in their outfits and little tiaras but I have to give it to Miyabi for looking the best here.

She even did the always awesome Miyawink.

There are the usual close up shots that are in every H!P PV, but this time, the 2shots are the real winners.

I don't even try to hide my MiyaCaptain bias do I? OH WELL, HERE'S SOME YURINACHII TO BALANCE IT

I seriously lol'd at this:

First, there was a pretty hot dance move

and then suddenly a RisakoMiya NAI JANNNNNNNN close up lol.

It was so random, but that just adds to the awesomeness.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on with Risako's hair color (it seems like every PV I'm saying something about her hair, sorry Risako), but that aside, she looks really nice in the outfit.

Every once in a while there's some random gold flying text across the screen. Not sure how I feel about that but okay.

The line distribution in this song is really lovely. It allowed the girls to shine with their solo lines and I always approve of that. Momoko especially sounded great with her's.

OH MY MAASA. She's beautiful and she knows it lol

HI THERE CHII

She also has a more serious, pretty side to her too.

Group fun!

Momokiss for all you Momo fans out there:

And Captain doing whatever she's doing

lol, awesome Maasa

I guess the only real complaint I have about this PV is when they turn off all the lights during some of the dance parts. For me, it serves no actual purpose except making it difficult to see.

So yeah, if you couldn't tell, I'm in love with this single.

Morning Musume is on a roll, Kimi Chari sold amazingly well, and Tsunku's genius showed in Berikyuu's second joint single, so I can only hope that this single is competitive on the charts as well.

If you like this single, you can always help out and buy it!

  1. Sadly, I don't expect to sell better than Berryz singles usually sell, which is around the 15k-20k range. Kimi wa Jitensha sold well because of the multiple versions, I imagine, and One Two Three was MMs 50th single.

I really like Cha Cha Sing so far, but I have to agree with you about Risako's hair color. I don't know who thought that was a good look...

  2. This song and video are amazing! I love them!
    Great review. Congratulations ^^

I think "cha cha SING" will sell a lot. I really hope it sells well (even more than "Dschinghis Khan", why not? ^^). Anyway, good luck Berryz Koubou!

  3. I really like cha cha SING, and I definitely think that it'll do very well, at least for a Berryz single.

  4. The lights going off made the start of the MV more dramatic, much more fun than just boring daylight. :P
