Tsunku: Eggs can join S/mileage, up to 6 new members can be added

Barks (an online news magazine) has an article up about the S/mileage auditions (which started today).

The article states that Tsunku is looking for new members to energize S/mileage and H!P as a whole. He then goes on to say that he might add Eggs to the group. He also said that he will add at least one member (so those hoping that this audition would fail, you're out of luck) and will think about adding as many as six new members.

He also said that what exactly he does with the new members depends on how many make it (if six make it, they will be sub-members).

  1. Sub-member?
What in the world does this entail?
    Tsunku I just. I just don't even.
Why couldn't you have left S/mileage alone?

  2. I also said this at another site, after reading the actual article:

This still bugs me. They won Rookie of the Year, and he’s thinking of REMOVING members? I feel so bad for Ayaka, Yuuka, Kanon, and Saki. Those four worked so hard to get to this point in their career, and for what, possibly being shoved out?

  3. No one really knows what a sub-member is right now, but it seems like they will basically be Eggs for S/mileage.

It would he hilariously horrible if an Egg becomes a finalist, only to become a sub-member and have to wait to join S/mileage.

It seems like Tsunku is acting on his original idea that he had for Berryz - a group with revolving members. It's an interesting concept; I just wish he tried it out on an entirely new group. If that's true, then "removing" a member could just mean her not participating in a single, and then present in the next single. Or something. That still would suck for whoever that possibly happens to, but it's much better than just being kicked out.

  4. Maybe.
I just don't think S/mileage was the right group to do this to.
    Poor girls.

  5. ^ Exactly what I was thinking when you wrote sub-member. I could see them rotating the sub-members, but the entire idea reminds me too much of AKB48 and their numerous sub-groups.

I think this is one of the rare cases where Tsunku is in the wrong. Auditions for S/mileage just doesn't feel right.

Oh, I got the card today! My first out-of-state mail and my first piece of real official H!P swag in one go, yes! Thank you! I'm like May-Lyn, I don't have the money for any of my vices and rely on downloading for everything so I really appreciate this.

  6. I agree with Hidders. Something about this audition just feels wrong.
Maybe he'll realize it before hand and make another group? I wouldn't mind that either. Kind like how C-ute were supposed to be rotated into Berryz.

  7. Anyone find it strange that Tsunku seems to handling these audition interviews himself? Doesn't he have minions to do the preliminary work?

And sub-members? Smells like the AKB48-model to me (I have nothing against AKB). I hope he doesn't copy that model.

I'm pleased that he's considering the Eggs at least. Although there aren't many of them left though. Wanna bet that some of the rejects of this and Momusu's audition will join the Eggs?

  8. @Leia: Yeah, I would had much rather he experimented with a bunch of Eggs before they all left.

@Hidders: AKB's way of things is exactly what I had in mind. Though that only seems to be possible if he adds a ton of members. He said that if he adds like 2, then they will just join the group outright.

And that's good to hear. Glad it arrived safely~

@Leia: That would be cool, but don't count on it happening. After all of the hype and everything, he's definitely adding at least one member no matter what (his words, not mine).

@tommyvd: lol I would think that the first few rounds he'd just have random staff he trusts to weed out the girls who have no talent, but he seems to like having a large role in selecting members himself. I won't complain about that considering how great of a talent evaluator he is.

I really do hope that the Egg pool is resupplied, just as long as they are really young.
