Berryz Koubou's Be Genki Naseba Naru! PV

Berryz's new single releases in a few weeks now and so the PV was uploaded to the official channel earlier today.

I'm definitely a huge Berryz fan and they often battle with Buono! for the honor of being my favorite group, but still, I will admit to not liking Be Genki at first. However, now, after seeing it performed live and watching the PV, I'm starting to see its awesomeness.

The PV starts off really cool. As seen in the picture above, Berryz walks toward the camera in a total badass way. Even the the way the logo appeared on the screen was somehow cool. From there, 7 TVs with pictures of the girls make up the next scene. It's an interesting way to switch things up from the usual close-up shots.

Before moving on to the next scene, I have to do a quick comment on the girls' hairstyles. Momo's pigtails fit her personality and were nice a while ago when she first started wearing her hair like that, but it seems like she's wearing it exclusively that way now and it's getting old. It's amazing how much a different hairstyle can change someone for the better (or worse).

Unfortunately, Risako is one of the unlucky ones. I like Risako of course, but her hairstyle here is so horrible, I'm sorry. Maasa's hair is really nice and for once, I actually like Miyaaaaa's short hair. It's not radically different from what she's had recently, but it fits the PV well I think. It's just... cool. Speaking of cool:

Miyabi, Captain, Chinami, everyone refgdfgrwfghebtgwsdc omg so cool. I like the little head nod thing Momo does lol.

Miya starts off the song with a few solos and thus, gets the first solo close-up shots.

Not only does she look pretty cool, but Miya sounds really great. I think I've said her name a dozen times already, so I'm sure you can tell who I thought owned in this PV. Risako sounds pretty good here too, but the combination of a lot of zooming + that hairstyle = Risako looking like someone shaved her head. Please never wear your hair like this again, Risako. Please. I don't think Raffi's heart can take it

I never knew walking could look so cool until I saw this PV. Captain especially has her badass walk perfected.

The dance portion of Be Genki might be my favorite part of it all.

And Risako and Miya's sexy lip touching is of course awesome.

I saw the PV for the first time this morning right before school and I liked it, but now that I've watched it another time for this post, I'm completely in love. Yeah, more could have been done. Yes, there could have been some sort of superhero storyline, but this is UFA we're talking about here. You could count the number of PVs released in the last few years that had a storyline on one hand. I came in with no expectations (especially since, like I said, I didn't care for the song at first) and just watched the PV without wanting anything in particular to happen and came out happy. Sometimes you have to take joy in the little things and Be Genki is full of a lot of awesome little moments that comes together to make a solid overall PV.

If you're a true follower of YajiSuzu, it is impossible for you to have missed the announcement of the amazing collaboration for today : "Pokemo. Presents Yajima Maimi & Suzuki Airi Accoustic LIVE".

Obviously, we obtained an illegal radiorip after the event (you know, those things we all hate because it doesn't respect the work of our idols and leaves no suspense but that we all, without exception, have to download at least once to hear the sweet voice of our oshimen or just a damn good concert because we can't wait ?), and since I just want to hear the absolutely angelic, beautiful, poetic voice of my oshimen as sweet as a pool of candyfloss in which I plunged my soul in desperate quest for love from this pure being blablabla - and that I just wanted to listen to a damn good collaboration - I download it. Punkt.

AND.

It's only after checking the setlist that I ~~fucking~~ hasted my lovely self to play that radiorip (while skipping the MCs)

01. Sakura Chirari

Awwww ! The acoustic version sounds so mature compared to the original. Although I'm used to °C-ute's one, their voices are really incredible on it. I find, at the first listening that their voices complement each other. Airi has a more gentle tone that make the song slowly trickling and Maimi's adds a little spice. Yeah I'm suspicious when I describe songs. I LOVE MUSIC OK. This version is a very nice and very good entry into the live. I also love the instrumental part, catchy and joyful as it should be for that song.

02. Yes! All my Family (Suzuki Airi solo ; Yajima Maimi chorus)

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It's. been. about. freaking. time. I'm. waiting. for. that. I was so tired of sad ballads for Airi lately, I wanted Yes! All my Family back ! Done ! Though, I'm generally a big fan of songs with a nice instrumental, but I must say that this version is totally different and I don't know what feeling it leaves me, if I prefer it to the other or not. I think this song is something that needs a real dynamism, and even if the instrumental is very well reflected through the orchestra or whatever, it makes me feel a little weird not to hear wotachants here and feel less "connection" with the audience than in normal lives. It will probably grow on me. Airi never disappoint me. She still has that childlike tone, cheerful and pleasant when she sing it, acoustic or not. I think it's a good point.

03. Lonely Girls Night (Yajima Maimi solo ; Suzuki Airi chorus)

To be honest, I've never been interested in this song. I didn't like the album SHOCKING 5 and I didn't pay attention to it in live because I found it boring - contrary to her other solo songs, I think I've never even listened to fully. I make the effort to go forward for the report here, I must say that the lyrics are very nice and the acoustic version attracts me more than the original. Great job Maimi ! Her voice was truly amazing here, I'll pay attention to your work more !

04. Venus (Shocking Blue) ~ Love Machine (Morning Musume.)

OH. MY. GOSH. I was surprised. By everyone talking about Girlfriend from Avril Lavigne I didn't even noticed there was another song in English in their live ! Venus was just so adorable, I can't believe that, being really objective I really think it was truly good even though I didn't get some lines. I'm really impressed by them, I just want H!P to have more songs made my other artists than Japanese ones in their events and why not doing some singles totally in English when their level will improve ? So I'm really glad they took the initiative to push forward their fear of singing in English and do efforts to starting something new and original in the H!P world. The mixing with Love Machine was truly good too.

05. Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne

This made me smile so much, I can't even explain. I can't wait to watch that in live, I'm sure they were soooo cheerful. I absolutely impressed by them, they did a great job ! I love how Maimi forgot some lines. Airi blew me away, like truly, she really wanted to sing in English and I'm just so impressed by her talent. During Buono!'s concert they read a French letter and she was the one with the most fluent accent, here she is too.

They could do the crappy Japanese version and they did the English one. That is just adorable from them. They didn't swear, too, contrary to Avril in her song, that little detail made me smile too.

06. REMEMBER YOU (Suzuki Airi solo + guitar)

I've always loved this song and the lyrics that touches me greatly. I loved how Airi had timidly played guitar during her solo event a while ago, I'm glad she took the time to improve to give us an even more successful performance, she seems more confident I guess it's a great new. The musical accompaniment made by the other musicians makes this version better than any previous one. I also noticed her way of saying "Remember you", it's not a "Rimemba yuu" anymore and even if it seems trivial probably for some of you, it's something that is really important for me, knowing that she is really working hard on her English. I'm really proud of her.

07. Kimochi wa Tsutawaru - BoA (Suzuki Airi solo)

YES? YES? YES?! YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES ! THIS SONG. TOO MANY MEMORIES. H!P KIDS AUDITION. THE THING I WATCHED 52156158181 TIMES AND THE MOMENT WHEN I DISCOVERED HER AND I TOLD MYSELF "IT'S HER. FROM NOW." *calm* Well. This is a truly marvelous performance, even if as usual when she's singing and can't really take her breath Airi's screaming more than singing for some lines. Besides that, I'm just very surprised at her choice, but also truly ravished. So much nostalgia, I can't imagine the reaction of the fans who followed her since H!P Kids and are seeing her, grown, after all this time singing this song with the same passion. Great. Just great.

Lol, Caroline Airi is back during the MC ! (For those who don't know, the character Airi was playing during the AB°C tour as °C-ute's Tap teacher)

08. Ame - Moritaka Chisato (Yajima Maimi solo)
Blew. Me. Away. I've never been a fan of Maimi's voice tone during calm songs, really not at all. I think her voice is better suited for dynamic songs, but this was so soothing, pretty and precious that I have to admit that - even if I never had any doubt about it - she is really talented and if she puts so much inside a performance, ballad or genki, she can be so wonderful beyond words ! The instrumental accompanying her sweet voice is considerably beautiful, too. Amazing.

09. Sweet Memories - Matsuda Seiko (Yajima Maimi solo)

Continuing the awesomeness of the previous performance, I am pleasantly surprised. That was an superb combo of "sweet melody".

10. Boyfriend - aiko

I loved that song ! Their voices are perfect for it ! Kinda jazzy and I loved the variety of the tone in the lines, sometimes low, sometimes sweet, sometimes impressive, sometimes funny... Absolutely successful performance, probably their best duet in that live for the moment from my point of view.

11. Aitai - yuzu

The kind of emotional and powerful ballad I love, through the lyrics or the melody. Maimi's voice which give even more power and Airi's one which accentuates makes it all wonderful. I DON'T KNOW ANYMORE WHAT'S THEIR MOST AWESOME PERFORMANCE IT'S ALL GOOD.

12. Sekaichii HAPPY na Onnanoko

It... it sounds like the NES version ahahah. I loved it ! Even more joyful than the original one. Not a performance that particularly blew me away though.

13. JUMP

This one, too, didn't blew me away or I didn't really "listened" to it deeply. Their voices are, as usual, creating a superb harmony though. I also loved how they shared this performance with the fans by asking them to sing !

14. Kimi wa Jitensha, Watashi wa Densha de Kitaku

When I saw that on the setlist I spazzed. Surely my favourite single from °C-ute and I sincerely wanted to listen to an acoustic version of it. Gives us a little preview of what their solo versions of this song will be eh? Even though the instrumental in studio sounds better than the acoustic for this song - since it have kinda deep meaning, the acoustic one seems more "lovely" than this one ? I don't know how to explain. I prefer the single version recorded in studio for the instrumental, but I loved this performance for the true talent of these girls emerging from it.

15. Image Color

Well, as most of the °C-ute song in acoustic here, it didn't impress me that much or left something "inked" into me, but it was... cute.

This initially promising collaboration proved to be as beautiful and amazing as its announcement let us expecting it. I never listen to the entire radiorip usually - crappy quality - and here I was really surprised by the quality of the setlist and all the performances that each girl could do, being solo or duet. I cannot wait to see them live and I remind for those who don't know that Mai will, in her next USTREAM show, show a part of this event more than perfect. It's not a surprise that these two are members of the H!P-singers-aces, but this is a proof of their talent so put that every time someone is saying "OMG GETTING TOO MUCH LINES NOT FAIR TSUNKU WHY YOU NOT RESPECTFUL I HATE H!P ME NOT LISTENING TO °C-UTE ANYMORE".

[BD-RIP] Berikyuu 2011 Fall Collab Concert 720p, 480p, streaming

Two awesome concerts in a row! This time it's Berryz and C-ute's 2011 Fall Collaboration Concert, brought to you with the help of the following donators: neonero, HelloRaffi, ladylibra92, as well as some help from me. Since I'm a H!P Kids fan above anything else, Berikyuu's first collab concert is one of my all-time favorites so I naturally had high hopes for this concert.

Just looking at it, the setlist isn't as exciting as I'd like (especially compared to the edited Tengoku concert from yesterday), but thankfully, this concert has quite a few memorable moments and performances.

It starts off slowly (literally) with a performance of Seishun Gekijou (the Sengoku Jieitai theme song) followed by the concert's first MC. From there, things begin to pick up with a medley of a bunch of Berryz and C-ute songs mashed together in a 6 minute performance.

I had a ton of fun watching the medley. The transitions from song to song fit pretty well and the way they were mixed together was genius, especially near the end (you'll know when you get there).

After a cool VTR, there is another MC followed by a few songs performed by C-ute only,

and a few songs performed by Berryz Koubou.

Next was a MC that determined who would be the one to sing the solo for this concert. By randomly choosing a stick with a crown on it, Chisato became king and got the chance to perform Romantic Ukare Mode by herself.

But, before that actually happened, Miya (who had that day's unlucky number) had to introduce Chisato's performance with "a super sexy pose". As soon as I heard that, I knew that this is going to be awesome.

After being instructed to move to the exact center, Miya does this:

..So yeah, after Chisa's solo, Berikyuu (minus Buono!) rejoin to perform Makeruna Wasshoi! Despite having less members than the original (no Manoeri, S/mileage, and the three members of Buono!), this performance had a lot of power in it, especially in the wasshoi parts. I was particularly impressed with Risako here (and throughout the whole concert actually). Somehow, I liked this performance more than the original Bekimasu version.

If you were wondering why Buono! was absent from Makeruna Wasshoi!, well it was because they would give an awesome performance DEEP MIND next (in the original PV outfits, too). I've said this many times now, but I love these outfits. This performance is why I love Buono! so much.

Also, Miya is really, really hot in this performance (I'm sensing a reoccurring theme here with Miya and hotness in this concert!).

From there is where the shuffling starts. Yurina, Risako, Maimi and Chisato perform Bye Bye Bye and Captain, Chinami, Maasa, Nakky, and Mai perform Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance. Normally this is my favorite part of a concert because we get to see random pairings singing random songs, but this time around I wasn't too thrilled. The performances weren't bad; they just aren't standout performances like I've seen many times in the past.

That's the POWER was performed next in a very... um, interesting way. For whatever reason, some random ladies in exotic clothing join the girls on stage and dance. I didn't pay much attention to this performance because I was busy lol-ing at it all. The stark contrast between what Berikyuu and the random women wore is particularly hilarious. I swear a couple of the women had on thongs or something

After a MC and a change of outfits, the genki portion of the concert starts, beginning with Seishun Song. I usually don't care much for this part of a concert mostly because we've heard the large, genki group songs hundreds of times by now, but for whatever reason, this was my favorite part of this collab concert. It just seemed more energetic than usual (and probably was, due to 6 high energy songs in a row).

Finally, the encore started off with Berikyuu performing Heroine ni Narou ka! Although it's a Berryz song, Berryz were there only for backup singing and dancing only. All of the solos were handled by C-ute. I think that they did a solid job overall, but still, it didn't quite come close to the original and I found the performance to be lacking. Airi having a bigger role in this would have definitely improved upon it, I think. The performance just didn't have the same conviction as when Berryz performs it.

After one final MC and a Amazuppai Haru ni Sakurasaku performance, there are two bonuses. First is another solo - Momoko performing Momoiro Sparkling. But once again, before that concert's king performed, Miya had more hotness to show.

..Yep Miya definitely wins this concert (also, thank you cameraman-san). Momo did an excellent job on her solo. It really fit her well.

The other bonus is a performance of Kiss me Aishiteru. Like Berryz in Heroine, C-ute took the role of backup singers and dancers in this song. Surprisingly, I liked this much more than C-ute's version of Heroine ni Narou ka! (I say surprisingly because when radio rips surfaced, I felt oppositely, but I did note that things could change with video of the performances). Of course, the original is still better, but I really like Berryz's version. The only major complaint I have are the outfits. I know that they had to perform Amazuppai afterwards, but the outfits really took out the hotness that Kiss me Aishiteru's dance naturally brings.

Might as well end with sweaty hot Miya, right?

Hello! Project 2012 Winter Tengoku Concert 720p, 480p, streaming

This is the H!P 2012 Winter concert (probably a mix of both Rock-chan and Funky-Chan), which aired on Japanese television earlier.

I had no idea this would appear on TV, so when it was uploaded yesterday, I was very pleasantly surprised and had to grab it as quickly as possible (so thanks to the wota who recorded it!). I watched last night and couldn't stop spazzing, especially during the Glass no Pumps performance pictured above (Captain omg wiusdgfiwgidwesdf).

I didn't include a setlist this time, so here is a rundown of how the concert is structured. First, there is a big group performance of Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku, followed by Kacchoii Uta in some really awesome outfits.

From there, each group (And Manoeri, of course) gives a brief message (which seems to be in lieu of MCs because there aren't any in this edited concert, except for a very short one) and then sings their new singles.

After that is where the fun really begins. The girls are split into seemingly random pairings to sing random songs (this is why I love the H!P concerts!), but everything really works. The highlight for me is Captain, Chisato, Riho, Ayumi, and Takechan singing Glass no Pumps.

Seriously, that performance is flawless. Their voices all blended well, Chisato gave the song some much needed power, and they are all excellent dancers so they had no problem performing it amazingly. The only thing wrong with the performance was the frequent change of camera angles, which prevented me from making as many gifs as I wanted to.

Of course, there were many other standout performance as well, like S/mileage's 2nd gen putting new life into Suki na Senpai.

And to end the concert, each group sang one of their older songs before coming together for a few more large group performances. My favorite was a medley of awesome songs, including a hot Mobekimasu version of Dance de Bakoon! in the Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku outfits.

I've always been disappointed with Hello! Project's albums in general. Buono!'s and MM's ones are the only things which mostly calm my hunger for good songs, with a fairly varied content which is always satisfying. Let's begin !
1. Mythology ~Ai no Album~
Huh. That's my reaction when I heard that. Would be perfect for ABBA, but not for Berryz Koubou *skip*

2. Yo no Naka no Barairo
The intro is perfect, this sounds good. It's a song that reflects the fair point of Berryz Koubou : the harmony between the members's voices. I terribly like the rythm and the instrumental ! This song will be perfect in live, I guess. It catches up the poverty of the previous song and is a great surprise ! Yes, it's a song which is a pleasure to listen to until the end.

03. Shy Boy
I don't really like the intro. The voices of the girls are too loud and there is no interesting instrumental. The autotune is appreciable at first but is absolutely disgusting from the verse before the chorus. I like the end of the song, but I'm not going to listen to it all the time, sincerely the autotune destroy my ears.

04. Because Happiness
Ah, something which sounds interesting. Well, nothing special to say about it, I just love the chorus and I think this song will be good in live too. An enjoyable bouncy song.

05. Ren'ai Moyo
The intro suggests a marvelous song. At first, I found it really boring, but by listening to it few times I have to admit that it's a really soothing and perfect song for the girls. I really love it.

08. Atarashii Hibi
Again, an intro which suggest something interesting, but I was quickly disappointed. I find it just... annoying and boring at a maximum level, unfortunately. The great points are, again, the voices of the girls.

10. Seishun Gekijou (Berryz Koubou ver.)
It's not that I don't like it, it's that I prefer °C-ute's one. Not because °C-ute is my favourite group, but because there is less girls and the lines were clearer due to that, which leaves a more enjoyable feeling (for me, at least).

Well, before this review my opinion was blocked on the "I seriously don't like it", but I have to admit that I have to change it a bit. I'm not going to listen to that album everytime, but it's clearly a quite good one, even though as usual the whole isn't particulary great. There is still songs that have to be put forward and others that I will forget forever. Besides that, I want to congratulate all the girls for their improvement in terms of singing, especially Captain, Maasa and Chinami.

7/10 for that album ! Not a gem, but something unpretentious, simple and pretty at the same time.

It's from an Airi & Chisato event last fall (on disc 2, there is a Maimi, Nakky, and Mai event). Hopefully the ISOs show up soon because the whole setlist is amazing (Koi no Vacance, Urahara acapella, and much more). Otherwise I'll just have to re-encode from the dvdrips already on the tracker because these DVDs are too awesome to be missed.

That's right, we subbed Buono!'s movie!

For those of you who know nothing about this movie besides the fact that Buono! stars in it, here are some basic plot points. Do note that there are some spoilers below, but nothing major. I'm not going to ruin the ending or anything, don't worry. All of the screenshots were taken from the first 10 minutes of the movie.

Miyabi plays the role of Kurohane Hinako, a very mysterious high school student that is bullied by nearly the whole class, partially due to jealousy (her grades are at the top of the class and she is a talented writer) and partially because they simply don't like her as a person. That's where Hidaka Yuka (played by Airi) comes in.

Yuka tries to be nice to Hinako and attempts to befriend her, which provokes this image:

...Creepy. Buono! as a whole does a pretty good job acting, but Miyabi definitely was the most convincing. I actually laughed a few times during the movie, not because it's funny, but because Miya's personality is like the complete opposite of the girl she portrays (and my goodness, the faces that she makes). She truly did an excellent job in the movie. I'll go as far to say that it's my favorite acting job from a H!P member, ever. Seriously, just look at this face:

Moving along with the plot, Momoko plays the role of Sonoda Shiori, who I'm guessing is the class representative. Shiori too is top of the class, but has been unable to beat Hinako's scores and becomes jealous of her because of that fact. Before long, Shiori leads her fellow classmates in bullying Hinako to the point where she decides to do something about it.

And that's where the killing starts. This movie is bloody. Really bloody. There isn't any on-screen gore, but tons of blood and and endless amount of creepy noises (which freaked the hell out of me out while I was timing this since I time using only the audio and hadn't seen the movie prior to working on it) makes up for it. Gomennasai is a great horror film (though the scare factor is very low, the creepy ambiance is perfect) and assuming that you can handle the blood, it's a must watch.

A few quick notes about the video itself: there is extra footage after the credits roll, so don't close the video! Also, this was encoded from the standard DVD (from the tracker - thanks to the uploader for uploading it). I hope that someone eventually uploads the Blu-ray ISO; that would be the only thing that could possibly make this movie sweeter.

The weekend Chobi met her idol

Just in case you didn't know, Buono! traveled to Paris this past weekend. Although it was expensive and difficult for her to save all of the money by herself, because she lives in France, absolutely nothing was going to stop Chobi from seeing the idol that she has admired for so long.

There was a lot of panic as to whether or not she'd get to go to one of the signing sessions because of a very limited amount of spots available, but thankfully, all worked out in the end. She was able to meet all of Buono! face-to-face, got a Buono! CD jacket signed, and was nice enough to think about me when she met Miya and even mentioned my name to her (the day before she left for Paris, we were talking about what she'd say to the girls if she got to meet them and I joked about saying that she should tell Miya that I love her - I never expected her to actually do it!).

There was a HelloPro! TIME cameraman present there as well, so there is a chance that Chobi will appear on a future HPT episode (she'll be easy to spot in her awesome kappa outfit) - how cool!

Somehow... Airii~n Deshou?! has reached 1,000,000 views!!!

When I started this blog way back in August of 2010, I never would have imagined that Airii~n Deshou?! would grow this large. It originally was going to be about Hello! Project news, my Youtube channel, and even random things about my life (as seen by my very first post ever). It literally started over a friend (constantly) asking when I'd get a blog and look at it now.

I feel like I should be doing some sort of speech where I thank the people who helped me along this journey, but instead I'll just keep it short. Thank you to, well, you. "You" as in the person reading this right now. You're the reason that Airii~n Deshou?! exists and you're the reason why I do everything that I do. I love Hello! Project and my goal from day one (starting way back in 2007 when I created my first Youtube channel) has been to spread the Hello! Project joy to as many people as possible and I think that now, a year and a half and 1 million views later, I did a pretty decent job of that.

This blog has significantly evolved over the years, starting from a place where I'd report news and give my opinions on them to a news/download/essay-like editorial blog, and finally to a download/essay/subtitling resource. Now, with 2012 still fresh, I hope that Chobi and I together will continue to evolve Airii~n Deshou?! and turn it into something even greater.

Hello everyone, it's been awhile I didn't post! And everyday, even more people visit this blog, so I think I should do a little message here.

When I discovered Airii~n deshou?! It hadn't the fame it has now. But I continued to follow it, because at that time Jedimastertrunks was speaking personally a bit more (about his collection, his opinions) and there was something else that reviews and downloads, which was something great too. I thought Jedimastertrunks was impressive.

Then, it became more active and even more people was knowing "Airii~n deshou?!" through the download it gave with TPF, and so on. At that time I created my fansite and I didn't have the time to visit the blog as much as I was doing it, but I didn't really care about it because I knew it would be something great when I'll come back, I didn't think it would be so awesome in every way and that it'll become a reference.

When I came back, as I supposed, there were even more comments, even more visits everyday, I saw that Trunks did so many posts with so different ideas sometimes to varie the content (with the contest and such). But, something marked the Airiindeshobi history. "Keitai Kanojo" released, and I wanted to do it in VOSTFR for my fansite. Unfortunately I had no experience in subs at all, and that was difficult for me to understand all of that, so even if I find Jedimastertrunks quite gigantic I tried to send him a e-mail, and he replied me quicker than expected, with all the advices I should know. Thanks to these advices I succeed to translate, put the subs, and encode the film in 2 days only all by myself. Every French fan on my fansite were really happy, all thanks to Trunks.

We stopped talking but as some persons, I was visiting the blog everyday to see the news, download updates, subs and the concerts in streaming that are the most interesting for me. Then I suddenly don't know why, we started chatting again and now for me, Trunks isn't Trunks, but it's Chris. The owner of this blog helped me to make the French fans happy, to know how to use some programs, to give the chance to my fansite to grow, offered me a little place in this entity he created all by himself and his work, and some personal things of his everyday-life he's doing for me. This blog helped me to watch awesome concerts, gain Takahashi Ai's graduation version of MM's Kono Chikyuu, knowing that I appeared in J-MELO on 06 May 2011, meeting an awesome friend... But the most important is that it created a community of Hello! Project fans that are following their Idols and that can have this opportunity thanks to Airii~n deshou?!.

Please, continue to follow this blog, to support Chris and his work (it makes him truly happy) and of course Hello! Project!

Morning Musume - Limited B DVD Download link

The dance shot was quite different than H!P's usual offerings and this close up version follows that trend. It's not drastically different (there aren't exactly many different ways to do a close up PV anyway), but the camera is zoomed in a lot closer than usual.

The overall quality of this PV is higher than usual and when you combine that with ultra zoomed in shots, you get another well made PV for Pyoko Pyoko Ultra.

Hagiwara Mai desu ga... nani ka?? Episode 7 screenshots + download link [MF links added]

Hagiwara Mai desu ga... nani ka?? is the name of Maichan's live USTREAM show and in this 7th episode, Mai reports from Buono!'s ongoing concert tour.

It starts off with Haggy roaming the streets with her solo song from C-ute's upcoming album playing in the background.

Once she gets to the concert hall, she grabs more food

and has a chat with Buono! before showtime.

Soon, Buono! has to prepare for the concert, so Maimai goes in search of another Maimai - Dolce's drummer.

After that, we learn that Mai isn't the only H!P member present at this concert. She meets up with Chinami,

DAWA, and Kanon who shows that she is a good Buono! fan by sporting a Momo towel, a Miya t-shirt, and Airi's glowstick color.

Then it's finally time for the concert to start!

Haggy isn't the greatest cameraman ever (random zooming, filming herself almost as much as Buono!, and forgetting to unzoom ftw), but it's still very enjoyable. Somehow, it seemed more real seeing it through the eyes of Mai as she was in the audience. It's so cool that in less than a week, Chobi will have a similar experience when she sees them live in Paris.

Anyway, after watching a few songs and a MC, Mai leaves her fellow H!P members in the audience and does what every Buono! fan dreams about: going backstage ~~and bothering the sound guy~~. It's a unique perspective to say the least.

Once she's done there, she still has more things to do. Buono! fans will know that at the beginning of Warp!, staff throws to Buono! towels for the towel waving portion of the song. You can probably guess where this is going. Mai goes into a random dressing room and practices with staff because she will be the one to throw Airi her towel.

She throws a few perfect (and some not-so-perfect) throws to the staff and gets in position for the real thing.

Finally, after the towel throw (I'll let you watch yourself to see whether or not she's successful), she returns backstage and has towels and Hatsukoi Cider ready and waiting for Buono! and has a post-concert chat.

This was a really unexpected, but awesome episode of Mai's USTREAM show for me. I'm sure all Buono! fans will enjoy this just as much as I did, so it's definitely worth a watch!

Do foreign fans care too much about sales?

It's been a while since I last wrote a huge essay article hasn't it? I do like writing posts like these, but they not only take the longest to write, but also to fact-check (to make sure I'm not randomly making things up). That's why I usually only make these in response to something (i.e. graduations, scandals, etc) and that is why they usually seem like rants. This post is no different. I originally started writing it sometime in mid-2011, but put it on hiatus and it just sat there... until now.

First let me set the stage by explaining why I'm even bothering to write about this topic. Whenever a new Hello! Project single is released (or even when they are first announced, in some cases), it is inevitable that fans (do note that from here on out, when I refer to "fans", I speak of the English speaking foreign community and not anyone else) argue over sales figures. How much it will sell, whether or not it deserves to sell a lot, and complaints on disappointing sales are just a few topics that are rehashed every few months. In this post, I will take a look at the ongoing question that frequents the foreign community - do idol sales (especially in the context of Hello! Project) really matter?

Before I get into the heart of that question, I think that it is important to talk about Oricon and their CD ranking charts. Every week (starting on Wednesday, as that is when new CD releases typically go on sale in Japan), Oricon updates their website to reflect that particular day's sales. The artist who sold the most each day is ranked as #1 and whoever sells the most within any given week is awarded the highly sought after weekly #1 ranking. Seems fair right? Well, not quite.

"Normal" artists (i.e. non-idols) have a bit of an advantage over Hello! Project and other idol groups because in 2009, Oricon started counting only 30% of CDs sold at events. So how does this effect idols more than other artists?

Events (where fans can go to see the new single sung live, shake the idols' hands, and possibly win a prize like a signed poster) are a very large part of an idol's routine. For Hello! Project at least, you can expect an event of some kind for just about every single that is released (and in some cases, multiple events - see Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku for an extreme example, where the whole company traveled across Japan to hold multiple release events).

Going back to Oricon's 2009 rule change for a minute, it simply means that if an idol group sells 10,000 copies of the single at their event, only 3,000 will be counted towards the Oricon charts. I told you it wasn't very fair.

On the subject of sales not being counted, I should also quickly note that not all stores are recognized by Oricon as official vendors. What this means is that you could buy a copy (or 100 copies if you're rich/crazy/awesome) of a new release and not have any of those purchases count towards the charts. Although I do believe that this is rare (all major Japanese stores count towards the charts, as does a lot of online stores), still, it's copies not being counted. (In case you're concerned, the four major websites that sells and ships idol CDs worldwide - CDJapan, Amazon Japan, HMV Japan, and YesAsia - all count toward the Oricon charts.)

The thing is, some idol groups like AKB48 have overcame those handicaps and have gone on to break Japanese music records. So then I return to my original question - does sales really matter for idols?

As usual, I will take a stance somewhere in the middle and say both yes and no. Of course they matter. You'd be hard pressed to find a company willing to put time, money, and effort into a group that sells virtually no copies of singles. And yes of course, selling as high as AKB48 has sold puts you into the Japanese music history books and makes you relevant for almost forever (until some random new group breaks your record).

However, Hello! Project groups do not fit into either of those extreme categories (selling virtually no copies and breaking records). I often see fans complaining about low sales (and I will admit to have expressed my disappointment in the past as well), but I think that there is a skewed notion of what "low sales" really are. It really depends on who and/or what you compare them to. Compare Morning Musume to AKB48 and of course sales will seem low, but the reality is that AKB48 (and any Japanese artist - especially of the idol variety - who consistently sells hundreds of thousands of copies) are in the minority.

In 2011, only 75 singles sold 100,000 copies (or more). That's out of the thousands of singles released throughout Japan last year. On average, about 25 different singles release every week, which means that those elite artists represented less than 1% of the total singles released in Japan in 2011. (For those curious as to how I came up with those numbers, I checked CDJapan's new release calendar and did a rough count of the number of singles released per week for two months and used that data to come up with about 25 new single releases per week. It's not 100% accurate, but at least gives a general idea.)

What I'm trying to say is that only a small percentage of artists release singles that have extremely high sales while the rest of Japan can only dream of reaching that mark. There are so many more artists that sells less than 100k copies than there are those that actually does sell 100k. Because we don't live in Japan, foreign fans tend to only know about (or at least pay attention to) the popular artists because, well, they're popular. They are on TV shows, radio shows, news programs, etc a lot and thus, the average foreign fan knows them much more than a random indie artist, for example.

Yes, there are artists who sells a rather large amount of copies - I don't discount that - but I think we can all agree that popularity does not equal enjoyability. Many of the top selling songs are great, yes (that's why they are the top selling singles after all), but there are just as many songs at the top of the Oricon charts that aren't as great. Take a look at the top 100 selling singles of 2011 and you're bound to find songs that you don't care for.

To be honest, whenever I see someone complain about Hello! Project's sales being low, I can't help but laugh. C-ute selling 20,000 total copies of Sekai Ichi Happy na Onna no ko is only low if you compare it one of those 100,000+ sellers. In reality, it could be much, much worse. Take a look at Kago Ai's non-Hello! Project single, no hesitAtion. It debuted at #26 (H!P singles almost always make the top 10 and usually, the top 5 on their first day) and sold 1,700 copies not in one day, but total. And I'm not trying to pick on Kago; there are artists who don't even break the 1,000 copies mark. So, instead of complaining about low sales, I prefer to be grateful that Hello! Project has a core fanbase that supports the girls through just about anything.

Complaining aside, there is another part of the "low sales argument" that I would like to address. Instead of bashing a group for not selling a large number of copies, there are fans that aren't happy with their favorite groups' sales simply because they are scared for their longevity. The thought process often is that if their favorite group constantly sells a low amount then that group will be disbanded. I can't blame anyone for worrying about their favorite group, but again, I have to elaborate on what I consider low sales.

Let's take a look at the case of Melon Kinebi. For 5 years (2004-2009), all of their singles sold 10,000 copies or less (averaging about 2000 copies sold in 2009). Melon Kinebi was a part of Hello! Project for 9 years and even during Hello! Project's dominant years, sold basically what Berryz and C-ute are selling now and yet they were fine. I can't speak for other companies, but UFA/H!P doesn't seem to mind all that much. To explain why, you have to realize that single (and album) sales is not the only way UFA makes money from Hello! Project.

As H!P fans, we may think it is normal and even take it for granted, but all of the activities that the girls take part in and all of the random merchandise that is sold is not the normal fare for non-idol (and to an extent, non Hello! Project) groups. A standard Hello! Project group's year (let's say C-ute to keep things simple) looks like this: 4 full concert tours (H!P Winter, C-ute Spring, H!P Summer, C-ute Fall), 4 singles (and release events), multiple fanclub events, a couple photobooks (and solo DVDs), possibly an album, Single Vs, photosets, towels, and many other things.

It's true that Hello! Project acts don't sell hundreds of thousands of copies of their singles, but when you add all of the revenue generated from the things above, I doubt they are exactly hurting for cash. This doesn't mean that your favorite group is completely safe (I don't think anyone knows what goes through Tsunku and UFA's bosses heads except the guys themselves), but sales probably won't be the reason for disbanding.

When I began this long post I proposed two questions: do foreign fans care too much about sales? And if so, do idol groups' sales even matter? In my opinion, I do think that the majority of the foreign fan population cares a little too much about how well or badly whatever group they happen to favor. It can get annoying especially when the same thing happens ad nauseam, but since a lot of it stems from simply being unaware of the facts, I can't blame fans too much. On the subject of idol sales, yes they definitely matter - just not as much as some fans would lead you to believe. Idol companies are businesses and the goal of any good business is to make as high of a profit as possible and UFA is no different. However, when you combine CD sales, concert sales, events, and everything in between, the company makes a lot more more than their single sales would indicate.

Morning Musume 2011 Fall Concert 480p encode torrent

This is the SD version of Morning Musume's 2011 Fall Concert. I would suggest the HD version, but if you want to have this video with a smaller filesize (the total filesize here is 2.2 GB) or have a really old PC or something, this version is for you.

Do note that the only way to download this right now is via a torrent. I will eventually put up direct downloads but I don't know when (if anyone wants to download from the torrent and upload them somewhere, feel free and I'll add the links to this post).

ADDP: Berikyuu 2011 Fall Concert - Donations Wanted!

Berikyuu's 2011 Fall Joint Concert is releasing in about a month (2/29), so I'm going to go ahead and start the Airiindeshou DVD Donation Project back up.

It is releasing in both DVD and Blu-ray formats on the same day, so of course, I'd rather get the Blu-ray version. It will be 7414yen total (this includes shipping). That's about $95 USD.

The normal DVD is 5500yen total (about $70 USD).

I will be accepting donations until 2/22 (one week before the release date).

New CDs!

I've been holding out on buying H!P CDs for a while, so today I got a large package from CDJapan full of CDs, yay!

As you can see, I bought six CDs. S/mileage's Tachiagaaru and Please Miniskirt Postwoman, Kikkawa Yuu's Konna Watashi de Yokattara (that song and PV is awesome BTW), and Buono!'s co no mi chi, and the regular + limited edition of Hatsukoi Cider/DEEP MIND. Now I have every Buono! single and I just need two of their albums to complete their discography (Airiindeshou trivia: Buono! is my favorite H!P group).

I already have the Tachiagaaru poster above, but CDJapan amazingly still had a few of them left over and since the single is only 500yen, I couldn't pass up getting another one. I also got another poster in this package - Please Miniskirt Postwoman, seen below.

The current state of filesharing websites

...isn't good.

Unfortunately, Megaupload's crackdown was only the beginning. A few days after that happened, Filesonic disabled its download function. And shortly thereafter, Fileserve, Filepost, Uploaded.to, Filejungle, Uploadstation, 4shared, and quite a few other filesharing websites have undergone major changes ranging from US IP blocking to disabling downloading entirely, like Filesonic.

What does this mean? Things are going to be harder and harder to share, especially if other websites follow suit.

Mediafire is definitely the best untouched website left, but their 200MB file limit (for free users; premium paid users have a much larger limit) is what keeps it from being ideal. DepositFiles is pretty good. Wupload is decent. And although it's a mere shadow of its former self, I suppose Rapidshare isn't completely horrible. It's a sad, sad day when Rapidshare is one of the best options. Thanks US government.

Berryz, Idoling!!!, Super Girls - Sakigake! 1/18/12 download link

Last week's Sakigake! Ongaku Banzuke Eight episode featuring Berryz, Idoling!!!, and Super Girls.

I won't do a complete screenshot post this time because ~~I'm lazy~~ it would spoil this awesome episode, but here is a basic overview. At the beginning of the show, Sakigake! recaps some of the 2011 episodes that featured idols.

Because of its awesomeness, Berryz's Ai no Dangan appearance was crowned the best and so the theme of this episode is Momoko's MomoAttack. Idoling!!! and Super Girls battle each other in a best of 3 MomoAttack battle and the winner faces off against Berryz (and Momoko herself).

Megaupload is gone & how you can help us stop SOPA

Just in case you haven't heard the news, Megaupload no longer exists.

How does this effect Airiindeshou? Well, I almost exclusively used MU when I first started and it is (was) my favorite filesharing website even now, so many months of files were lost both from here and from Chobi's blog as well.

I'm not going to re-upload everything, but if you stumble across an old post with the download links removed or dead MU links, you can request a re-upload by emailing me at airiindeshou@gmail.com. I will only re-upload files smaller than 1 GB because I'm currently working out the Winrar/7zip problem I'm having when I split larger files (this is the only thing holding up the SD version of Aichan's graduation concert - it's already encoded).

PS, if you don't want this to happen to other websites, the best thing you can do now is protest SOPA/PIPA.

If you live in the US, there are many ways to do this such as calling/writing your state's representative, or just by filling out one (or as many as you want!) of the many online petitions. Here is one from Google, here is one from Firefox that emails your state's Congress members, here is one from Vote for the Net that automatically lets your local senator know you oppose SOPA/PIPA, here is one from Don't Censor the Net!, here is an excellent one from Stop American Censorship, and here is one from Demand Progress addressing President Obama that mentions Megaupload specifically.

If you don't live in the US, this still effects you and you can still help. Here is a petition to the US State Department you can sign. And more importantly, share this post (especially with your American friends)! I tweeted a link to this post so if you have a twitter account, feel free to just retweet it! Otherwise, use any means you can to raise awareness. These bills cannot be allowed to pass.

S/mileage - Choto Mate Kudasai screenshots + download link

S/mileage's new PV!

After their amazing Please Miniskirt Postwoman single, could S/mileage keep the momentum going without Yuuka?

This was my first time hearing the song since I didn't listen to any of the H!P 2012 Winter concert rips. My first impression is that it's a step down from Minisuka, but it's not bad.

The PV is overly cheap, but interesting. For example, the scenes where S/mileage are smooshed against glass (pictured above and below) were random elements that added something new and random to UFA's normal dance shot/close up PV formula.

Speaking of the dance, I think its the best part of the whole thing. It's pretty unique and fits the song well. For some reason, I especially like the choto mate kudasai dance moves.

The close up shots in the PV are pretty interesting too. They aren't typical stare and lipsync to the song close ups, but instead there is plenty of movement that adds life to those shots.

The outfits aren't bad even if they do resemble some of H!P's previous outfits. S/mileage pulls them off well.

And the girls themselves all look pretty as usual. I'm especially loving Kanon and her hair lately.

Overall, I think that Choto Mate Kudasai is a solid effort from S/mileage. It's not one of my favorites and I don't know if it will ever become one of my top played songs, but the song has some memorable parts (everyone's high notes, especially DAWA are awesome), the dance fits, the PV is fun without being over the top, and the outfits are good.

New singles = new outfits!

Hi everyone! Chobi here. I FEEL LIKE STAYING IN THIS BLOG TOO MUCH TIME SINCE I CHANGED THE LAYOUT. Today - it's already Wednesday 4 in France, yes, I feel like posting at 5:15 a.m - I'm going to speak about the new outfits they use for H!P's new singles. Yes a girlish post about style, since H!P's winter tour started, we had a preview of each of the singles and they logically shown the new outfits.

I really want to hear your opinions about the topic too! Of course I can visits some forums, but you all know how in certain the singles thread are pretty messy and it's rather complicated to catch everyone's opinions.

MORNING MUSUME.
Single : Pyoko Pyoko Ultra!

First reaction of 99% of the people : OMG WTH IS THAT. I was one of these people, and I'm still, even after the preview of the MV and all. But the girls seems to play with the funny aspect of these, which is something kinda cool, especially Reina.

+++ : The outfits are, for sure, following with the song! I guess it's a really strong point. Even if they seem so bad, and that most of the girls looks ridiculously cute in those, being able to find an outfit that matches with the song and creating a MV that will, too, is difficult and I think that it's really interesting. The fluffy white things on them are absolutely adorable.

--- : The shoes. Sincerely. They're realistic but they're friggin' ugly ahah.

For me, Reina & Gaki-san looks the best with those. Reina because she plays with it and Gaki because it's probably the best one and they managed to make her an hairstyle which is cute with it, too.

BERRYZ KOUBOU
Single : Be genki ~naseba naru!~

First reaction : OMG WTH IS THAT n°2 and SEISHUN BUS GUIDE 2. It was.. unpredictable. I sincerely didn't though, by hearing the song from the audio rip, think that it'll be something like that. Since we didn't see a MV preview we can't really speak about them at the moment. They can be superb and if the MV isn't a bad green background. I want to see Berryz flying!!

+++ : As MM's one, they're unexpected but they match the song so much. Plus, by knowing BK, you know how they succeeded to make a quite good single with an absolutely ugly outfit - no, sincerely I didn't like the colors for Otakebi Boy WAO! - so it shouldn't be a problem for this one too, right? I absolutely love the boots and the capes, Berryz are going to kick everyone out !

--- : I don't see anything here that is too "bad". I would prefer the yellow oversleeve (is that the right word?) in another way but it's not something hateful at all.

I personally think that Miya, Maasa and Captain are looking great with these.

°C-UTE (you're jealous because I can make ° with my French keyboard bwaha)

I'm sincerely happy that they are one of the outfit used for the single - Airi said there will be two -.

+++ : Everything is so good. Stylish, mature and at the same time sexy. I missed that °C-ute style and also that all the members wear the same outfit ; there's just few differences actually : Chisato and Nakky are the only ones having a belt buckle in that way ; Maimi, Airi and Maimai are the only one having a top that let appear their belly and Maimi, Nakky and Mai the three having a collar ; and Chisato & Maimi the only ones having lace on their skirts.

--- : We didn't see the MV, so as Berryz's case it'll be quite strange to review that already but I think that, unfortunately, even if the outfits are gorgeous it doesn't match the sound of the song at all and that's something really bad. Of course they have to do some "cool" outfits for the lives and probably the covers, to attract but promoting a kinda calm and mature song with a rockish and sexy outfit isn't the best. But I'm sure they won't use that one in the MV, so I can't wait for it. Also, I hope that the girls don't feel bad dancing with these skirts, even if the dance isn't that dynamical.

Maimai, Nakky and Airi stands out the most in my opinion. ~~-AND I'M NOT BIASED OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE SAID "ALL OF THEM ARE SO PERFECT I CAN'T MAKE ANY CHOICE LEAVE ME ALONE WITH THAT AWESOMENESS"-~~.

MANO ERINA

Single : Tasogare Kousen

I don't really follow Manoeri, so I didn't know that she was going to sing another song than "Doki Doki Baby", but I'm really surprised about the outfit. It seems to be like a "princess" outfit but it feels - at least for me - such as they mixed a cute dress with a sparkly heroine dress...

+++ : The colours of the outfit. There's not too much colours but it's not plain, I guess it's something good? The cut of the dress seems lovely too. So, I like it in some ways!

--- : The gloves and all the black parts on her chest and if I don't make any mistake there's also something on her shoulder, under her ear : bleh, that's too much!

I personally think that Manoeri looks the best with that outfit in the photo.Micro-san looks a bit embarassing.

S/MILEAGE

Single : Choto Mate Kudasai!

Everyone's first reaction : OMG WTH SAME OUTFIT AS MM + S/MILEAGE LOGO (people know that you're only thinking that because of the colours) AND PINK IS MISSING (true thattttt). I'm personally surprised about the outfits. S/Milegs gave us the habits with uniforms, or rather original costumes - when I say original I speak about different for each members, such as aMa no Jaku and this isn't really one.

+++ : The dress are quite cool, well they're lovely. The cut is really simple yet appreciable, I don't really know what to think about the "It match the songs or not" at the moment, contrary to Berikyuu. We'll see that at the right time! The tights are ravishing, I sincerely like the "white/colour" effect. They're just really nice clothes!

--- : The buttons of the belt! I'm so shocked that is sincerely and absolutely disgusting! It's ruining the outfit, and doesn't suit the song at all. I'm just so disappointed. The thing I just said is a random sentence to fill this part and make people believe that I make good articles with jokes inside, because it'll be empty since I don't know what is detestable in these.

Rina, Takechan and Meimei are looking the best for me! Especially Take-chan which is sincerely noticeable in red.

My favourite outfits are : °C-ute & S/Mileage
The worst : I think they're all pretty original and awesome in their own way. Though I'm not convinced by Mano's one, sorry Mano!

What's your opinion about that? Which one is your favourite?

[TPF] Mechaike Idol Special subbed download link

So you guys remember that idol special where Momoko was abused by one of the hosts? I even posted a screenshot/download link post about it.

Just in case you missed both of those, well, Mechaike held an idol special in September 2011 that pitted quite a few non-AKB idol groups against each other in various games to see who would come out victorious.

When TPF-Subs leader SFGundam (shameless promotion: check out our new website) came to me and said he was considering picking up this project, I was incredibly happy. Anyone who saw the unsubbed version knows how epic it is, so sure, why not? Then I found out that it would be a four person project (2 translators, an editor, and me), I thought he was insane. Normally a project of this caliber takes double that amount of staff, so this was a huge challenge for every single person involved.

A huge thanks goes to SFGundam, murr, and Aleria Carventus for making this happen. All four of us worked so very hard on this for a long time to make sure us foreign fans would be able to understand such an amazing show. I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it was the hardest video I've ever worked on in the 3+ years I've been fansubbing. The typesetting especially was really difficult because it required a lot of hiding the original kanji to make it look decent. Before TPF, I'd never even tried typesetting, so I'm very happy that I was able to complete a video this difficult. The vast majority of the captions are completely translated (I'd say around 95%), so you'll really get the complete experience.

I won't go into a full screenshot review here since I did that in a previous post (and it's best not spoiled anyway), but I will give a basic description of it.

For this special occasion, idol groups Berryz Koubou, S/mileage, SDN48, Idoling!!!, PASSPO☆, SUPER☆GiRLS, Ebisu Muscats, and Nakano Fujo Sisters all came together to battle for the title of best non-AKB idol group.

After getting to know the groups individually, they played three games - a flag retrieval challenge, a high jump, and a one-on-one sumo battle. At stake was a chance to perform their new single at the end of the show on primetime television. It doesn't get much better than that for an idol group! Watch as Berryz and S/mileage represent Hello! Project and take on a bunch of other idol groups eying that very same prize.

2011 is over and it's now time to do my usual hopes & predictions post. Due to Risa's graduation announcement the "No graduations" thing I wanted last year doesn't work for this year either. Let's enjoy the short time we still have with MM's prince!

I asked Chobineko to participate by giving her hopes & predictions too, having two points of view is rather funny, I think. I'd like to do this type of post more often (with me and Chobi both offering something in one post), so let us know in the comments if you like it!

What I want to happen in 2012

C-ute's 2nd Alo-Hello to be awesome

So C-ute's 2nd trip to Hawaii was canceled last year and we didn't get to see awesome C-ute beach action. I just hope that it will be much better than the other Hello! Project groups' Hawaii trips (though to be fair, Morning Musume's Alo-Hello 5 wasn't bad).

Berryz or C-ute weekly #1

Who knows how many years we have left with Berikyuu (especially with all of the changes to Hello! Project in 2011). It would be a shame for them to never top the Oricon charts at least once. If it happens, it will have to be on a week where no big name group releases and Berikyuu will have to sell more than usual, but it's certainly possible.

New H!P Kids audition

As I said above, I don't know how much Berikyuu has left. If either (or both; scary!) left, Hello! Project would instantly become so empty. I would love to start grooming the next generation of idols for Berikyuu to pass the torch to (eventually).

What I think will happen in 2012

Another Mobekimasu single

Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku was too awesome and sold too well to not have a repeat in 2012. If it does happen, I really hope they continue the nationwide promotion and appear on a ton of TV shows in the process.

Aichan releases a solo single

Although she is focusing on acting now, her voice is too great to stop singing. I'm not expecting 4 singles a year or anything, but it would be nice if we got 1 or 2. I'm thinking that in 2012, Aichan will have her solo debut.

A new sub-unit

I think that 2012 will also see the debut of a new H!P sub-unit. At the moment, we only have one (Buono! and maybe High-King, but that group is basically destroyed now that Aichan and Yuuka are gone), which seems a little weird considering that in H!P's history, there were always a ton of them. It would be a great way to promote Morning Musume's 9th or 10th gen and allow them to shine in a different setting. Personally, I'd love to see a Chisato, Zukki, Yurina, and one or two 9th/10th gen members in a group together.

What I want to happen in 2012

More interest for the overseas fans

So, yeah, I wish they were more and more H!P concerts and why not auditions overseas ? Of course, you will tell me that there's a minimum, small chance that it happens. Because all Japan lovers worldwide aren't all Idols fans, because the Idol world isn't that attractive as the KPOP artists that are touching the whole world in the moment ; especially H!P which is, to be honest, not as it real top since two to three years, even if it sometimes varies and that we know some increase. But, I sincerely and deeply think that the foreign fan base is enough for this type of event. They already understood that most of the fans were in Europe & in USA and I wish they could try instead of being locked in Japan (and sometimes Hawaii).

An equal promotion for each group.

UP-FRONT* knows how to promote a group. They just don't do it often. The result can be pretty cool if there wasn't any lack of promotion for some groups and a bigger amount for some. Look at Mobekimasu's result, S/Mileage's result and look at Berikyuu. Don't you see something different? It's kinda confusing. They're promoting a group BECAUSE thanks to the promotion they did before, the group is working and so they continue, but almost stop to pay attention to the others and lost awesome songs.
*when I talk about UP-FRONT, I speak about what you guys are calling "Tsunku". I don't like to say it's him in charge of all the things, because he's surely not, so I prefer to talk about the whole society than resting on one person's shoulders.

What I think will happen in 2012

More communication with the fans.

Lately, I think that it's increasing for this thing. More videos on their Youtube channel, for all fans - even if it's not yet all in English subtitles. On the Facebook pages, too, and through the Twitter of the staff members.. I think that it's something they should do more, because you can't really - for the foreign fans - have a "contact" with the groups / idols and it's pretty reserved to the Japanese fans. I think they're actually realizing that and will take care of it.

A new group.

Thinking about it now, it seems sooo unrealistic. But hey, I have hope! I really think H!P will have a new group this year, or as Airiindeshou said a new unit. I think that H!P need a refreshment. And it's not by adding a ton of members to the actual group that it will work, in my opinion. I think it needs a new thing... R&B style? ahah.

A new Mobekimasu single.

Same as Airiindeshou. It worked so well, I might be sincerely surprised if they don't try to do another one. If it happens, I really hope it won't be a crappy song just to sell singles, but a real one to promote H!P. I think that all of them together as they are can change anything. We got new talents and the others well-known members that are all pillars of the H!P family. I believe in them.

A spectacular change.

I don't know what it'll be. But I think there will be a sincere big change this year for H!P. I don't know if it'll be good or really bad, all I know is that since last year everything is moving. They have a strategy. With all the new members, and that fact that some aces are quitting, UP-FRONT will try something, and if they don't then that's because they seriously need to live in 2012 and not 10 years in the past.

You actually noticed that there's a new layout right? I offered my help to re-look the blog in a more "professional" way and I sincerely hope you like it!

The banner was made for the banner contest that Jedimastertrunks did few months ago, by Andy Kamezou, I thought it was a nice banner and I congratulate this person for the hard work! I hope that you don't mind that I used it, I thought it suited the layout in a quite nice way.

Nothing changed in the blog besides the layout - ~~and your age in your 'About me' page Trunks~~ - and that there's a "Home" button in the menu under the header, which will allow people to return to the main page even if they're few pages after. I think it might be useful, so I hope it will really be. The slider is something new too, it will help you to be directly diriged to the posts related to the group you want (not the members!!). And it adds more Mobekimasu, too! Which is something really good I guess ahah.

Trunks like the layout, so I guess that it's a good sign ahah. Hope his followers and you visitors will like it as much as he do.

So, this post is both a download link for Heroine ni Naraou ka! so that you can preview what is to come, as well as a review of the Berryz Blu-ray PV collection. My copy of Berryz's Blu-ray PV collection arrived yesterday with the S/mileage concert (I bought the Berryz video by myself, so it's not a part of ADDP). Yay!

When these PV collections were first announced, I was definitely looking forward to see the PVs in HD. But, then it was revealed that only a handful of them would be in HD and the rest would be SD upscales. Of course I was a bit disappointed, but the earlier PVs were not likely shot in HD anyway so it couldn't be helped.

Aichan's graduation concert Blu-ray bought!

Thanks to a bunch of donators (antiswanky, Sharon, neronero, Athaclen, and one or two anons), I now have the other half I needed to pay for the Blu-ray version of Aichan's graduation concert. You all had excellent timing because I managed to grab the last copy CDJapan has available (though they'll eventually get more).

Although this is the final concert DVD release of the year, I am still accepting donations. Remember, any donation of at least $5 will put you in a contest to win the concert DVD. As long as donations are received before this DVD gets to my house (the 28th), you will still be able to win it. Otherwise, any extra donations will go toward the next concert release.

Aichan's graduation concert donations

So Aichan's graduation concert is nearing release (the 28th) so I am now ready to collect donations for it.

For the Blu-ray:
If I order from CDJapan, it will be 10201 yen (about $130). Amazon Japan currently has it on sale so if I order from them it will be 8222 yen (about $109), but who knows how long they will keep that price.

For the normal DVD:

I need 6392yen (about $81).

Of course, I'm not buying both. How much money you guys donate will determine which version I buy. I have up to $60 I can spend towards this so I need about $50-70 for the blu-ray version (depending on if we get enough money to catch Amazon's sale) or $21 for the normal DVD.

Remember, as long as at least half of any DVD is paid for by donations, I will give it away to one of the donators who donated at least $5!

Airii~n Deshou?! Monthly Wrap Up (November 2011 Edition)

Another month has come and gone and now there's just one month left in 2011! I swear as I get other, the years fly by faster

It was a given that November was going to be a much slower news month than October was, with last month's shocking Yuukarin graduation announcement. But slow(er) does not equal bad, as Mobekimasu's first group single released, had more promotion than anyone could keep up with, and is on pace to become H!P's top selling single of the year.

Contest #6 - Show me your writing skills!

In my sixth contest, I opened it up to writers of all types. Entrants were allowed to submit any work they composed themselves, whether it was a poem, a fanfic, an essay, or something entirely different with hopes of winning a copy of Aichan's graduation single. After everything was said and done, Aya-chii and Chobineko earned first and second place due to their entertaining fanfics.

What is this?

Hello! Project DVDs are taking longer and longer to appear on the internet (and sometimes they don't appear at all). As a result, I often buy new releases (like concerts) so that I and everyone else can watch them in a timely manner. But, this practice is getting expensive - each DVD is about $45 plus shipping. Blu-ray DVDs are even more (anywhere from $60 to $100). This is a project that I've come up with in hopes that the foreign H!P fan community will come together so that we all can benefit.

What are the benefits to donating?

1. You and the rest of the world will get to see a new DVD release on or around it's release date (usually it will be on the exact release date, but sometimes there are shipping delays).

2. I will mention your name and your blog (or twitter account or any similar personal website) in the download link post if you want. Everyone will know of your kindness and you'll probably see a spike in views to your website as well.

Thinking about donations

So first let me say that Airiindeshou is and will always be free and will never have a bunch of ads like some websites do (the only one that I have is the CDJapan banner at the bottom of each page, which doesn't bother anyone).

I've been toying with the idea of accepting donations for a while now but I've mostly been against it so I'm asking what you guys think.

Of course, I don't own/buy every single thing that I upload, but most of the concerts and DVDs I have actually bought myself.

Years ago this wasn't necessary because ISOs would always appear somewhere on the net (often times days before its actual release date). But times have changed and even some of the more popular DVDs take weeks to show up on the net (if at all). As the days pass by, buying the merchandise is becoming more and more of a necessity. I certainly have no problem buying and supporting the girls of course. I just don't have the funds to buy $45 DVDs constantly.

Which is why I've been thinking about adding a donation button to this blog. 100% of the donations would go toward the purchase of concert DVDs (or the like). I would then be able to order them and have an encode up the same day as its Japanese release date most of the time.

I could also run a contest just for the donators. Since I wouldn't need the DVD anymore after I make an encode from it, everyone who donated would be able to win the concert DVD like a raffle. And in the event that I have any left over donations, it would simply go towards the next purchase - I would never keep any of it for myself.

Would anyone be interested in participating in something like this? I'm not really expecting this to work, but after a commenter brought the idea of donations to my attention, I thought I'd at least put it out there.

Mobekimasu will be having a release event later today at 12:50 (noon) Japan time and it will be streamed live on Niconico here:

That's at 10:50 PM (basically less than 5 hours from now) for the US east coast. Go to this website to find out what time it will be in your country.

And just incase you still don't have a Niconico account, you can make one for free! The website is in Japanese, but I made a sign up guide a while ago that you can read here.

Don't count on me recording it because I've had troubles with my recording program as of late, but I'll certainly try! And if not, a wota usually records it.

Mobekimasu's first ever group single earned a weekly #4 and sold 49,429 copies. And the best part is that the promotion isn't even over yet (like the live Niconico stream of their event at Yomiuri land which will be streamed in about 11 hours from now).

Of course, they are opened, but they are in perfect condition otherwise. I paid 3800yen (about $48) for each, but I'll take $27 each or ~~$50 for both of them~~. ~~If someone buys both, I'll pay for shipping.~~ If you buy one then shipping is $3 to the US and ask for other countries. I'm open to other offers, as well.
